Country Living At Its Best

In today’s cluttered and stress-filled world, it is no wonder that there is a need for individuals and families to find their way back to nature. Residential communities need to offer more than just a place to live; they must provide a beautiful, safe and natural environment that affords residents privacy, peace, and tranquility. People are increasingly seeking a natural and peaceful residential alternative to balance the typically chaotic and stressful lifestyle of modern times. Duchess Farm offers a beautiful, healthy, natural, private and safe environment where families can enjoy the outdoors and experience the “farm” lifestyle.

Our 18-home private community is located on a 95-acre farm with breathtaking vistas, 50+ acres of preserved open space land, beautiful custom built homes, and a state of the art equestrian facility.

Duchess Farm is located in the heart of historic Marbletown, between Stone Ridge and High Falls, New York. We are located less than 2 hours from Manhattan. The tranquility of rural atmosphere combined with open meadows and pastures for horses to run and graze is the centerpiece of the community. A blend of traditional home designs and environmentally sensitive land use ensures a showcase for open space “Green” design.

Preserving Duchess Farm
Duchess Farm Equestrian Community is an exclusive private community that takes pride in protecting the environment through our conservation efforts, environmentally sound building practices, landscaping and architectural designs. We provide a balance of nature for everyday living. Duchess Farm has reserved a large portion of land that will remain undeveloped, providing optimal open and green space within the community.

In addition, we pay attention to our building practices as they relate to their natural surroundings, while protecting the environment. It is our goal to ensure that we build quality homes that adhere to environmentally sound standards. Through our in-house custom builder, (or your own), we offer architectural designs featuring Connor Mill-Built Homes, or your own custom design stick built home, we are able to preserve the magnificent views and the integrity of the farm. Duchess Farm will continue its’ environmental efforts and building practices for generations to come. There are already two Connor Mill-Built Homes gracing the landscape at Duchess Farm. The Martha Nash and the Pieter VanderVoort Houses.

Connor Mill-Built Homes
Connor Mill-Built Homes (CMBH) is Duchess Farm's preferred home designer and manufactuer. CMBH incorporates fine authen architecturaldetail with historical concepts of scale and proportion revered through centuries of home building excellence. All homes are designed and built in CMBH's 50,000 square foot facility in Middlebury, Vermont, then shipped to Duchess Farms for completion by our local team. The result is classic American architecture, built to last for generations.

Sustainability of resources is an important aspect of homes at Duchess Farm. The new homes are built using structural components made from building products that have stood the test of time and will remain on the landscape for many generations. The siting of the home sites and the homes are done to make the most of the seasonal views and passive solar advantages as well as blending nature into the natural landscape. This concept of the “Open-Space” conservation design community provides the benefit of preservation and privacy of the farm. We have planned to preserve the core of the farm at the same time allow for homes to be built on the surrounding lands. The equestrian center maintains the open space so there is no burden on the homeowners.

Established in 1842, Duchess Farm is inspired by the past and welcomes the future. The inspiration of this private community came as a commitment to the family farm and for a family’s love of horses. Like the community surrounding Duchess Farm, it has seen many changes. Duchess Farm now has a new life and a new beginning as a private community for the country lover. This will give the farm a “new” family and will insure that future generations will enjoy its’ beauty, and experience of “growing up” on a farm.
