Partnering With Developers

In addition to our loyal individual house clients, our company is a valuable resource for developers who want their projects imbued with an historic theme and character. We are able to provide a project theme, plans and marketing assets that will immediately set the development on a course to be unique in presentation and implementation.

With so many plans already in our collection and our siting and general contracting expertise, developers need to spend very little on upfront architectural costs and can select homes that will suit their market and building lots. Our unique manufacturing process ensures that developments will proceed on time, without the usual delays, inefficiencies, and costs of a typical on-site build process, and we can quickly respond to demand in production or design, including providing custom design services.

One such development is the Burnt Mill Settlement in Wells, Maine. Steeped in history and ripe with examples of historic New England architecture, the location is perfect for a development using the Connor Mill-Built plans, manufacturing processes and marketing capabilities to capitalize on the extraordinary natural attributes that define the town and surrounding area. The first two homes, both of unmistakable historic charm, are already under construction, and six more are permitted and will begin construction shortly. As an example of the kind of thematic and authentic charm our company is capable of, the Burnt Mill Settlement team asked us to design a historic building that could be used as a sales center and would eventually become a community meeting place and the development’s post office. Linda Connor recently completed the design for this one-room schoolhouse for the community, to be built in the summer of 2018.

Burnt Mill Settlement Celebrates First Open House

Burnt Mill Settlement is delighted to announce the overwhelmingly positive success of the first ever open house in honor of the first two homes nearing completion. Over 100 curious and interested visitors enjoyed touring both homes, learning more about the design, construction and process options.

The Timothy Wells House, an exquisite Georgian style home with its historic design rooted in history, is based on the Wells Thorn House in Deerfield, MA. This home is very near completion, with only minor interior finishes and exterior landscaping left, it’s ready for a homeowner.

The Lucy Sayre House, a high-wall Greek revival cape based on a historic home located in Vermont, features an open floor plan with a first-floor master suite with masterfully crafted details inside and out. This home has a few more weeks to completion.

We spoke with many local visitors interested in buying as well seeing firsthand what all the “buzz around town” is about over at Burnt Mill Settlement. The historical authenticity as well as the quality of these homes is unmatched in the Wells area homebuying market. Burnt Mill Settlement will soon begin construction on historically inspired duplex designs and several more single-family homes. We also spoke with several visitors who drove for many hours to see these homes firsthand. Many of these people are interested or already planning to build a Connor Mill-Built Home in another location or state. Michael Connor, the Burnt Mill Settlement team, and many agents from Better Homes and Gardens - The Masiello Group were on hand to answer a variety of questions and meet with visitors. Delicious local sandwiches along with homemade sweet treats and candies were served.
